Webstandards: Pragmatik oder Dogmatismus?
Wer als Webdesigner oder Webdeveloper seine Brötchen verdient, möchte natürlich in der Regel seinen Job so gut wie möglich machen und Lösungen produzieren, die standardkonform, barrierefrei und, seien wir ehrlich, sexy sind. Zum einen stellt sich die Frage, wie man einem Kunden schlanken, validen Code schmackhaft macht. Wie erklärt man ihm, dass eine valide und semantisch sinnvoll aufgebaute Seite zwar optisch nicht zu unterscheiden ist von einem gottlosen Tabellenmonster, aber einen unheimlichen Mehrwert bietet? In der Praxis prallen da meist Welten aufeinander.
Da aber weder Accessibility noch Usability wirklich zuverlässig maschinell messbare Dinge sind, bedeutet natürlich 100% valider Code keinesfalls gute Zugänglichkeit. Auch dies gilt es dem Kunden klar zu machen - vor allen Dingen wenn dieser selbst mit einem CMS an Inhalten rumfingert. In der Praxis ist durchgängige, konsequente Standard-Treue in einem vernünftigen Kostenrahmen ohnehin frustrierend schwierig - zumindest bei grösseren Projekten. Da kommen die Werbeeinblendungen der Drittfirma XY mit ein paar lustigen Font-Tags daher und ein anderes mal baut ein Kunde im WYSIWYG-CMS kreativste Tabellen-Konstrukte zusammen.
