Radiohead verschenken ihre neue Platte
Heute wurde die neue CD einer der genialsten Bands der Welt angekündigt. Die neue Scheibe von Radiohead wird “In Rainbows” heissen und kommt am 10. Oktober (also nächste Woche, yeah!). Nun, ich freue mich schon ziemlich heftig darauf. Noch etwas an der Ankündigung ist sensationell: Die Scheibe wird, zumindest vorerst, ausschliesslich über die Radiohead-Website vertrieben – zum einen in einer Discbox-Version mit Vinyl-Platte sowie zwei CD’s und zum anderen als Download.
Der Hammer daran: Man kann den Preis frei wählen. Man könnte sich also die neue Platte auch gratis runterladen – vorausgesetzt, man ist ein Arschloch, oder, das Album ist unterirdisch schlecht (und wird eh gleich wieder gelöscht). Nun kann man das zwar vor dem Download nicht wirklich wissen – ist aber auch ziemlich unwahrscheinlich (dass viele Leute Arschlöcher sind hingegen sehr). Wie auch immer, wer das beste Rock-Album der 90er schuf und bei keiner Plattenfirma (mehr) unter Vertrag ist, kann es sich auf jeden Fall leisten. Wobei ich eigentlich nicht glaube, dass dieses Geschäftsmodell gezwungenermassen weniger erfolgreich sein wird als die “mit-DRM-Kunden-verärger-Strategie” der meisten grossen Plattenfirmen. Die Mehrheit der Leute (mich eingeschlossen) hat diese Bevormundung einfach satt. Bleibt zu hoffen, dass das Album hält was es verspricht und die Verbreitungsmethode Schule machen wird!
