Mal wieder was Lauteres hören
Man kann mich ja durchaus als Freund der eher ruhigen Töne bezeichnen – auch wenn elektrische Gitarren in der Regel zum Repertoire der von mir bevorzugten Bands gehören. Quiet is the new loud, sozusagen. Ab und an darf es aber auch ein wenig lauter werden – und genau aus diesem Grund haben die Queens of the Stone Age einen festen Platz in meiner iTunes-Bibliothek. Die haben ja kürzlich ihr jüngstes Werk “Era Vulgaris” veröffentlicht. Meiner Meinung nach reicht das neue Album zwar nicht an die Vorgänger-Alben ran (was auch denkbar schwierig ist), weil’s teilweise für meinen Geschmack einfach zu wirr klingt. Als ich die Kritik bei cdstarts.de las, musste ich über folgenden Satz schmunzeln:
Da hat sich die Band mit ihrem letzten Album „Lullabies To Paralyze“ (03/2005) ganz vorsichtig dem Mainstreampublikum angenähert und nun zerstört sie die noch frische Freundschaft mit dem unerwartet sperrigen „Era Vulgaris“ mit nur einem Schlag wieder.
Nun, nicht dass ich mich jetzt so richtig zum Mainstreampublikum zählen würde – aber irgendwie scheine ich mittlerweile näher bei dieser Zielgruppe zu liegen als schon. Wie ich aber diese (Selbst)Erkenntnis jetzt werten soll, da bin ich mir noch nicht so sicher.
Ach ja: Bei Youtube kann man den Song “Misfit Love”, bis jetzt mein Favorit auf der neuen Platte, in einer erstklassigen Live-Version anguckhören.
